Cuts4Change provides free haircuts to teens across D.C. — using the barber chair as a gateway to mental health conversations for young men who'd never walk into a therapist's office.
Teen mental health challenges are rising, yet boys face unique barriers to getting help. The gap isn't awareness — it's access to safe, trusted conversations.
Cuts4Change transforms the barber chair into a safe, comfortable, trusted space — no pressure, no judgment, no clinical setting.
Zero-cost grooming for teens across D.C. — removing every financial barrier, every time.
One-on-one time in a familiar, comfortable setting where young men can actually open up.
We go to schools, shelters, and community centers — bringing services to the people.
95% of clients come back — because the chair becomes a safe space they trust and own.
Research confirms what Cuts4Change already knows — the barbershop is one of the most powerful community health spaces that exists.
Of regular barbershop patrons cite their barber as more than a service provider — a trusted confidant and community anchor.

What began as a side hustle — BigOBlendz — turned into something much bigger. Session after session, clients started opening up. About school. About stress. About things they'd never said out loud to anyone.
The chair was the safest place in the room. That pattern became the foundation for Cuts4Change. Omeed is a junior at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD, and conducts sociology research at American University — funded by the Russell Sage Foundation and the Gates Foundation.
We're building a network of certified barbershops across D.C. It's not about providing free services — it's about culture, community, and the conversations that happen in the chair.
